About - MU REALM
Mu Realm is a MU Online project, at murealm.com. Its server, Origin x100, runs Season 6 Episode 3, the version most people mean when they say they miss MU, on a client we rebuilt from its own source. A continent of dark cathedrals, frozen valleys and buried temples, where a character is not a number on a login screen but something you carry for months.
01 Origin x100
Experience is x100 for every account, levels go up to 400, and a ladder of 100 resets, done on this website, pays stat points and slows down the higher you climb. Dark Wizard, Dark Knight and Fairy Elf are open from the start, Magic Gladiator once a character on the account reaches level 150 and Dark Lord at level 220. Summoner and Rage Fighter cannot be created here, and master levels and Gens are off.
Every rate, limit, event time and command is on the Server information page.
02 Alone, in a party, or behind a banner
You can play the whole continent on your own: grinding Lorencia and Dungeon, keeping one eye on the map for the player who would rather take your zen than earn it, and slowly turning drops into the first set that actually holds.
Or you can take a party. An elf keeping the group standing while a knight holds the front is still the best hour this game has, and a party of three or more different classes earns extra experience. When you want more than a party, there are guilds, with emblems drawn square by square, ranks, allies, and a castle that changes hands only when somebody is willing to fight for it.
03 Something happening every hour
The classic events run on a schedule you can plan an evening around. Break into the Blood Castle to bring the Archangel's weapon back before the bridge closes. Hold your ground through the waves of Devil Square. Survive Chaos Castle, where the arena itself shrinks under your feet until only one is left standing.
Defend Crywolf every Saturday at 18:30, climb the Tower of Torment with your party, and from December bring the whole guild to Castle Siege on Saturday evening, the one fight that decides who holds the castle until the next one. Event Time on every page counts down to all of it.
04 What we added
- Aldric the Questkeeper: a chain of 317 hunts at the town exits of Lorencia, Devias, Noria and Elbeland and in Arkania, paying zen, items and permanent stat points that stay through every reset.
- High Templar Varian: up to ten random hunts a day once you are 50 quests into the chain, for jewels, boxes and more stat points.
- Reset items: every reset asks for armour, weapons or shields drawn for that character, so the pieces people farm keep their value for the whole life of the server.
- Tower of Torment: a party wave event in three towers, with its own ranking.
- The Altar of Elf in Lorencia and Arkania: the way to Ruined Lorencia, Snowstorm Devias, Jungle Noria, Silent Grounds, Swamp of Peace and the Realm, and the place to clear PK status.
- Items: 4th and 5th level wings, Jewels of Luck, Goldsmith and Ancient Harmony, items up to +15, and Power of the Ancients for a full ancient set with its weapon.
- Achievements: twenty account achievements in three levels, claimed on this site.
- On this site: resets, VIP, the Virtual vault, the Craft System, the Market, a live event timetable and rankings for all of it.
05 It runs like you remember it, not like it was
The client you download is not the one from twenty years ago. We took it apart and rebuilt the part that draws the world.
The MU4 Engine draws the world with modern shaders and lets the graphics card animate every character, so on our machines it runs at about twice the frame rate of the original and holds up when Lorencia fills. Textures stay sharp into the distance, edges are smooth, the camera turns freely around your character (hold the middle mouse button, End puts it back), and the interface can switch to sharper, upscaled textures in Options.
Why rebuild it at all: the original client was written for the computers of 2005. It wasted a modern graphics card, stuttered in crowds and carried twenty years of bugs that every server copied from the last. Fixing them in the client is the only way they stay fixed.
And a pile of things that were quietly broken for two decades of copies of copies now work: spell effects land where the spell actually is, health bars and names stay glued above a moving head instead of drifting behind it, the Chaos Castle arena crumbles the way it is supposed to, and the Blood Castle gate falls once, cleanly, instead of sticking half-open and stranding everyone outside.
None of that is something you will read about while playing. You will just notice that nothing is fighting you.
06 Fair play
Nobody starts ahead. The server was wiped on 18 October, and everyone builds from zero on the same terms. The rates are the same for every account; VIP adds its bonuses on top, and the VIP guide lists every one of them, number by number.
The class formulas were worked over in October: wizardry, defence, attack rate and the shield of every class. In PvP the damage depends on which class hits which, so no class wins by default. Teleport has a short cooldown that grows when it is chained, combos land at most twice a second, potions heal over three seconds, and attack speed has a ceiling. Chaos Castle is fought at full PvP damage, duels at half.
Cheating programs, abusing bugs and farming rewards with a crowd of accounts are against the rules, and every rule names its punishment before anyone breaks it. Found a bug? Report it: the people who read the report are the people who fix the code.
07 Who runs it, and how to reach us
Two people who have spent more evenings inside the client's own source than playing it lately: fixing the renderer, the events and the things that quietly broke in twenty years of copies of copies.
That is the whole promise: nothing on this site that the server does not do, and problems answered by the people who wrote the code.
The quickest way to us is our Discord: #support for account, website and game problems, #bug-reports for anything that does not work as it should, and #suggestions for ideas. The Support page says what to include so we can help quickly.
